There is alot to be said about this sim. Good & bad. The plus points are that the graphics are good, and the idea is good. But the following need to be addressed before this game gets 5 stars.
Firstly, I noticed the bug in the steering. You will see the steering wheel & front wheels twitch violently. This continued when you start to drive, sending you into other lanes, crashing into other vehicles and the central reservation. You will then start the game the following day, and the steering is as it should be. You just never know when it wants to be a pain in the rear!
When it IS drivable, the game is pretty good in my opinion. It is what it is, a haulage sim. It is laborious in real life so it isn't really that riveting in the simulation world either! But you could say that with the flight and ship simulators too, yet they are extrremely popular.
I haven't been to Germany, Italy or France, but from what Euro Truck Sim say's, they all look exactly the same! Also, as you approach the destination depot, ALL of the roundabouts & turns are exactly the same no matter what city or country you are in. This needs to be addressed, as in real life, as a new driver, you would be clueless to where you are, each country you visited. Yet you could drive blindfolded in all of the included journeys as they are a mirror image of each other.
There are also a few driving bugs in certain 'hotspots' on route. You will come off a motorway onto a curving slip road, then it will feel like you have hit black ice, and your truck careers into the crash barrier! The same place EVERY TIME!
There is also a strange thing where you'll be driving along quite happily, then suddenly a car, van or truck will crash into the back of you. You see it in your mirrors. This is in no way your fault, yet it costs you money, and damages your truck, which again, costs you money!
I also have no idea how you listen to your own MP3 audio files. Apparently you can switch on the radio in the cab, and load your mp3's to listen to on your journey. I have followed every instruction, yet it still says 'no tracks in player'!
This game seems to be a beta release. It is far from finished, yet it is on the shelves. It could be awesome, if they just listen and address the problems. I have emailed them, but i've had no reply.
Pros
- Good Graphics
- Control of instruments i.e. lights, full beam, indicators, mirrors.
- Journeys not overly long and boring.
- Sun rises and sets as you drive.
- Other vehicles on the road indicate and brake.
Cons
- Bugs here there and everywhere.
- Silly kamakazee drivers on the road.
- Scenery is the same everywhere.
- Could do with 3rd party addons like flight simulator.
